While it may seem like your fridge is designed to hold your dairy products inside the door, storing them there doesn't help you with anything. The inside of the refrigerator door is actually the warmest part of your fridge, because the furthest from the cold air fan is at the top of the back, so anything stored there is bound to spoil faster. This is why it is best to store sugary drinks, spices, and other processed foods there and move milk, butter, and eggs to the cooler top shelf. صيانة ال جي
You are storing leftovers incorrectly. As delicious as leftovers can be, if you store them improperly, you likely shouldn't eat them. According to research from McGill University, you should avoid storing hot food leftovers in deep dishes or plastic containers stacked on top of each other, as this will cause the food to cool more slowly - and spoil it faster. So if you prefer to store leftovers in plastic containers, be sure to separate them inside the refrigerator.
You are not checking the seal. Nothing heats up a refrigerator faster than locking a broken door. Get in the habit of checking the refrigerator's seal - also known as the rubber liner that surrounds the inside door - by closing the door on a small piece of paper or a dollar bill and trying to pull it out. If it comes out easily, it is time to replace the door seal.
You store meat at a very high level. If you tend to store raw meat, poultry and fish on the top shelf of the fridge, you may run into trouble. Uncooked meat and seafood juices can spill and drip onto other items in the refrigerator causing cross-contamination, so it is best to place them on the lower shelf instead.
You don't clean it up enough. The refrigerator is a magnet for bacteria, mold, and other contaminants - so don't wait for it to smell funny to clean it appropriately. A deep cleaning every three months, which should include washing and disinfecting fragile drawers and shelves, should suffice, as long as you wipe off the spills as they occur. | |
